Botafogo's three-pane course workspace showing an Analyse 1 course

What it is

Botafogo is a ground-up rewrite of an EPFL course-learning platform, aimed at thousands of students. It adapts to any LaTeX course source. Two Analyse 1 instances are live, linked above.

What I built

I built the database schema and access control, plus most of the front end, including a VS Code-inspired multi-pane workspace. A teammate built the edge functions, the LaTeX content pipeline and the AI features.

The Supabase backend has no application server. All access control and role permissions are enforced in the database itself.

The interesting problem

Designing the workspace was tough, which is why I ended up going for a layout inspired by VS Code.

The teacher wasn't convinced at first. The students, being native to the internet, like it a lot.
